## **Standard size products**
Our top priority is for every customer to be satisfied with their finished product. Everything we manufacture is quality inspected and custom packaged to prevent damage during transit. However, if a product arrives damaged or with a manufacturing defect, we will repair or replace the item at our own expense, provided that the defect is reported within 7 days of delivery. Photo evidence must be sent to us via email before we can arrange for return delivery. Original box and packing materials should be kept for return delivery. You can return unwanted items by notifying us within 7 days of delivery that they will be returned. We charge a 25% re-stocking fee, plus return shipping cost is the customer’s responsibility. It is strongly advised to use the original box and packing materials for return delivery, as the customer will be responsible for any damage incurred during return transit. Upon receipt of unwanted items, we will inspect them for damage and refund the customer 75% of the order within 3 days of receipt, given that the product is in good condition. Please note that for your convenience, we can schedule a UPS pick-up for your return shipment.
## **Custom products**
We take pride in building quality products entirely to customer specifications. This involves making detailed shop drawings that are approved by the customer before anything is fabricated. Our custom products come with a full one year manufacturer’s warranty. We will repair or replace, at our option, any faulty product deemed to have been caused by manufacturing defects. Products must be returned to our location if they were not installed by us. Incidental work, adjacent materials, and normal wear and tear are not included in warranty coverage.

If you are looking for attractive, easy-to-install, custom seamless floating shelves, look no further. CMH metallic floating shelves are fabricated as fully welded and seamless pieces. Our heavy-duty wall-mounted shelves are made with a concealed internal mounting bracket that can be screwed into a wall stud or other sturdy material. There are 8 different widths to choose from. The 18 in. – 36 in. wide units are rated to hold up to 60 pounds, while the 42 in. – 72 in. wide units are rated to hold up to 120 pounds. All custom floating wall-mounted shelves are made out of commercial-grade heavy-duty stainless steel with a #4 brushed finish. These floating metal shelves feature a seamless design and come in a standard size of 2″ high by 10″ deep. Built to last a lifetime, our Heavy-Duty 1/4″ Stainless Steel Plate Countertops are the premium choice for serious cooks, professional kitchens, and high-end residential installations. Unlike our [standard stainless countertops](https://custommetalhome.com/product/stainless-steel-countertops/) fabricated from sheet metal bonded to a substrate, these countertops are made from solid 1/4″ thick 304 Stainless Steel plate — heavy, dead-flat, and virtually indestructible. The thick plate construction eliminates oil-canning, hides minor wear with grace, and develops a beautiful patina over years of daily use. With its strength, hygienic surface, and rust-resistant properties, 1/4″ stainless plate is also an excellent choice for outdoor kitchens, BBQ areas, and commercial food prep environments.
Ideal for commercial kitchens, butcher shops, breweries and distilleries, food prep areas, and modern residential kitchens where a true industrial aesthetic is desired. We can fabricate plate countertops in any size and configuration with integrated welded sinks, backsplashes, or drainboards. Available in #4 brushed finish or matte finish. Important details needed to provide an accurate quote for 1/4″ stainless steel plate countertops include: overall dimensions and shape (a sketch with measurements is ideal), finish (#4 brushed or matte finish), sink cutouts and faucet hole locations, and any backsplash or wall return requirements.
Each plate countertop is hand-fabricated in our Chicago-area factory using TIG welding for clean, invisible seams. Sinks and backsplashes are welded directly into the surface and ground flush, creating a seamless one-piece stainless steel plate countertop with no crevices for water or bacteria to collect.
Care is straightforward: wipe down with soap and water or a dedicated stainless steel cleaner. Like any stainless surface, light scratches are inevitable with daily use, but they blend into the brushed finish over time and contribute to the patina that makes stainless plate so popular in commercial and modern residential kitchens. We recommend cutting on a board to preserve the finish.

We can add brass rivets or other decorative nails around the edges to give a more rustic industrial look. Unfortunately, we don’t have the ability to make rounded or “bullnose” edges. Corners are welded & polished and have 1/8″ radius so they are not sharp. Rounded corners with a larger radius can be quoted upon request.
**Walls** – For quoting purposes, it is important to note where walls are located so that we know which edges of the brass worktop need to be finished, and which will not be exposed.

Copper will go through an aging process called “patina” that is unique to each top. Most indoor tops will become darker and take on a penny brown color as they age. There’s no countertop material quite like zinc. Sourced as pure 100% zinc sheet — not zinc-coated steel, not a composite — our zinc countertops are the real thing: a living, breathing metal surface that evolves beautifully over time. Zinc is one of the few materials you can bring into your home that will actually become more beautiful with age, developing a rich natural patina that is completely unique to each top and the environment it lives in.
As zinc interacts with air, water, and everyday use, it slowly transforms — softening from its original bright silver tone into deep, moody grey hues, with subtle variation across the surface that no two kitchens or bars will ever share exactly. This isn’t wear. This is character. This is zinc doing what zinc does best.
We use premium 16-gauge (.062″) pure zinc sheet, fabricated and finished by hand in our suburban Chicago shop. These are countertops built to last a lifetime — and to get better looking every year they’re in use.
### **Finishes — Applied by Hand in Our Shop**
Every zinc countertop we make is finished by hand. We offer three distinct looks, and samples are available upon request:
- **Natural Matte Finish** — The zinc is hand-finished with an orbital sander using 220-grit sandpaper, leaving a smooth, clean surface with a soft, understated sheen. This is where your zinc’s patina journey begins — over time it will gradually deepen and shift in color naturally on its own.
- **Light Patina Finish** — A hand-applied treatment that gently jumpstarts the patina process, giving your top a subtly aged, soft grey appearance from day one. It’s the perfect middle ground between fresh and weathered — sophisticated without being overdone.
- **Dark Patina Finish** — A hand-applied treatment that deepens the patina process, producing a rich, darkened surface with dramatic, moody grey tones. It’s the same process as our Light Patina, taken further — for those who want a more aged, weathered look right from the start.
**Material** — 16 gauge (.062″) pure zinc sheet, 100% zinc — sourced from overseas, not zinc-coated steel

We can quote a custom fabricated sink as well if necessary.
**Cut-outs** – We can provide custom cutouts on our stainless steel countertops for kitchens to accommodate drop-in sinks, ranges, and more.
**Built-in Backsplash** – Our seamless built-in backsplash typically rises 4″ – 6″ off the counter, and has a 3/4″ thick profile. Please note that the built-in backsplash is different from the backsplash panels we provide. The backsplash panels are flat sheets that are glued to the wall, and generally occupy all of the wall space above the countertop and below cabinets.
**Edges & Corners** – Simple straight edges give a sleek look and are the most common. Raised marine edges and other custom edges with straight bends can be quoted upon request. Unfortunately, we don’t have the ability to make rounded or “bullnose” edges. Corners are welded & polished and have 1/8″ radius so they are not sharp. We are proud to offer several original metal wall shelf and bracket designs. Each shelf can be fabricated with no perforations, square perforations or round perforations. There are 8 different shelf widths to choose from. All shelves are made out of commercial grade stainless steel with a #4 brushed finish. Each metal wall display shelf has a standard 6″ depth. The SH3 stainless steel display shelf design does not require brackets and can be attached to the wall with the holes provided. It is recommended that the shelves be mounted directly to wall studs.
