Three patina grades

From #101 subtle to #103 blackened steel.

Our darkened steel is heavy gauge carbon steel hand-treated with a controlled patina. Three numbered grades let you dial in the darkness: #101 is a subtle warm darkening, #102 goes deeper, and #103 is blackened steel, a near-black industrial finish. Steel is refinishable and the patina can be reset in the shop.

Yes. The patina can be reset in the shop later if you want a different grade or a fresh surface.
No. The darkened patina is a chemical treatment of the steel surface, not a coating. Powder-coat is a baked-on finish. Both are durable for kitchen use.
Yes. Brass rivets and banding on darkened steel is a common CMH detail. We spec it in the CAD drawing.
